Arrival Instructions for Chango Villa 


Property Name: Chango Villa – 7 Bedroom Beachfront Villa near San Francisco Beach

FROM AIRPORT BY CAR – Because your car’s speedometer and odometer and all Mexican signs measure with kilometers instead of miles, all driving distances will be given in kilometers. A kilometer equals about 3/5 of a mile. English and Spanish directions are below. Please be advised that until recently rental car companies were not allowed to rent cars on the airport property directly. It is typically easier to arrange for rental cars to be delivered to the villa, but if you would like to select an option at the airport it is advised to do it in advance and work through our concierge partner.

FROM AIRPORT BY VAN – Once you exit the customs area, you will see a glass ticket booth to the right. This is where you buy your tickets to get to the property. The cost of the shuttle-van, depending on the distance, is between $8.00 and $15.00 U.S. per person. Taxis are not allowed to make pickups at the airport – only drop offs. Once you have tickets, exit by the doors in front of the ticket booth and go to the vans. Vans are lined up along the curb right in front of these doors. Just show the shuttle driver the directions in Spanish.

TIME SHARE ANNOYANCE ALERT! When you exit Customs in Cozumel, someone most likely will try to block your path, approach you and ask for your destination, or ask if you need help with ground transportation. These individuals are time share salespeople. Unless you want to go see a time share don’t go with them, just go directly to the glass booth to the right, marked “TAXI”. This is where you will make arrangements for your ground transportation Van.

GETTING A SMALL TAXI OFF THE AIRPORT PROPERTY If your group is traveling light and wishes to hail a taxi, it is only possible if you are physically off the airport property. This option only makes sense if you have minimal luggage, don't have small children, and don't have dive equipment. Depending on the number of travelers (4 in a cab), you may save 50% of the Van cost, but it is more unpredictable and you could wait longer. To do this, exit the airport and follow the circular driveway around to the right. After 200 yards you will come to a traffic circle. A cab can be hailed here. Just show the driver the directions in Spanish.

FROM FERRY DOCK BY TAXI Pick up your luggage and walk to the road where you will find the taxis lined up. If you need help with your bags there are porters with special tricycles to assist you. Just show the taxi driver the directions in Spanish.

DIRECTIONS IN ENGLISH AND SPANISH ENGLISH DIRECTIONS: Follow the oval service road to traffic circle. Make first right turn off traffic circle onto Airport Road. Follow this road until it ends at the sea (about .6 kilometers). At the sea turn left and continue through the downtown area (also where the Ferry Dock is) and stay on the main road. When you have driven 14.8 kilometers, you will see a 14k sign. Turn right. You are making a U-turn and leaving the main road and entering the old main road. Head back North towards town about 200 meters (yards) and you will see a sign on your left for CHANGO VILLA. Take a left onto this small road and enter the property through the large White Arch. Continue down the driveway and park in front of the villa.

DIRECCIONES EN ESPAÑOL Siga el camino de servicio óvalo a la rotonda. Hacer primero a la derecha de la rotonda en la carretera del aeropuerto. Siga por esta carretera hasta que termina en el mar (a unos 0.6 kilometros). A la vuelta del mar a la izquierda y continuar por el centro de la ciudad (también en el muelle del ferry es) y permanecer en la carretera principal. Cuando usted ha conducido 14.8 kilometros, verá una señal de 14 k. Gire a la derecha. Usted está haciendo un cambio de sentido y salir de la carretera principal y entrar en la antigua carretera principal. AT THE VILLA – Our Staff, Juan Antonio and Isabel will make sure the Villa is open for you and combinations for the gate locks and any needed keys are made available to you. Once you are settled in, please feel free to look through the binder on the table. It has useful information about Cozumel and the villa.

STAFF - Our staff will gladly help you with any of your needs. Daily Cleaning, Maintenance, and the Chef Service if selected will be performed by them. Also, if you have rented snorkel equipment or other equipment, it will be checked-out to an adult in your group: a signed release will be required.

SERVICES PROVIDED BY PARTNERS - We have two partners that will also stop by the villa within 24-48 hours of your arrival to introduce themselves and make you feel comfortable. We receive no commissions or fees, but after so many years of guests coming to the island, we have a very good idea of the type of services that are wanted.

CONCIERGE SERVICE: Jessica Schaefer will be your contact for any tours/excursions/restaurant reservations/massage services /vehicle rental/cake & baking service (birthday's)/etc. if you are interested. If you would like to call her in advance for services or pricing, please feel free to do so at the following. (512) 925-1440 US Cell Phone or, Jessica has relationships with all the companies offering services on the island (and mainland) and will only recommend the ones with the best reputations. Because the Chef Service at the villa is not offered on Sundays, it is highly recommended that you make a reservation in town on Sunday night as the best restaurants may not have availability: especially with larger groups which is usually the case when the villa is rented. Jessica can help with this.

SCUBA INSTRUCTION AND DIVING: Jessica Schaefer will also be your point of contact for any Scuba diving if interested. She is a PADI certified local Divemaster and is one of the best instructors on the island.

INTERNET ACCESS – The villa has wireless internet access. You will need to bring your own laptop or wireless device if you would like to use this service. An access code is in the binder on the table.

CHEF/MEAL SERVICE – Using our chef/cooking services represents a tremendous value over eating out in restaurants. Here is how it works. Your cook will prepare breakfast, and a choice of either lunch or dinner every day except Sunday. The cook’s expertise lies in regional cuisine. To Simply matters, following is our daily menu with various options and substitutions.

Day: Breakfast/Lunch or Dinner

Saturday: No Breakfast arrival/Beef or Chicken Fajitas

Sunday: Cook’s Day Off

Monday: Pancakes & Bacon/Tikinichick Fish

Tuesday: Eggs Motulenos /Chicken Pibil

Wednesday: French Toast/ Mexican Plate (Arrachera,Tostada de Pollo, Enchilada de Mole, Guacamole)

Thursday: Ham & Cheese Omelette / Chiles Chavelitas

Friday: Chicken Empanadas / Chicken Enchiladas

Saturday: Divorced Eggs / No Dinner departure

All breakfasts include: assorted fruit, juice, bread, butter, jam, and coffee. Main meals include soup or salad, side dishes, and dessert. Substitutions / Options…no additional charge: Breakfast: Fried eggs with chorizo, Scrambled eggs with ham, Eggs Rancheros. Lunch/Dinner: Fish in garlic sauce, Fish Veracruz Style, Chicken Tacos, Chicken Quesadillas, Chicken Panuchos, Steak dinner, Vegetarian requests accommodated. Gluten free dishes can be prepared if notified 7 days prior to arrival. There is currently a charge of $300 per guest per week (6 days) including food and the services of the cook. Children age 2-9 incur a $200 charge. Children under 2 are free of charge. If you desire lobster or steak at a meal, there is a surcharge of $50/guest/lobster and $38/guest/steak. Cook service can be arranged for as few as 3 consecutive days: the daily rate is $70 per day for adults and $35 for children. The minimum is 4 adult guests. If the food service option is chosen (which you may have already done), all guests in the party must use the food service. Prices are subject to change. Once the service is booked, the charge is fixed at the price quoted at the time of booking the food service and will not be changed. Payment must be made for all guests in advance of your arrival. We are very sorry, but we are unable to add guests to the meal plan after your arrival. If you would like to add additional guests, you must do so prior to arriving at the villa.

SHOPPING SERVICE- a shopping service is available using our staff in advance of your arrival. The service is the amount of the groceries + a 20% shopping fee. Please call or email us to reserve the meal and/or shopping service at least 30 days prior to your arrival. Have a great vacation.
